I’m thrilled to share that Grey Finds a Home received an Honourable Mention in the 2026 PBParty competition.
PBParty is an international picture book writing competition that gives un-agented writers and illustrators the opportunity to have their work read and considered by a panel of experienced children's book professionals. This year, hundreds of entries were submitted, so seeing Grey Finds a Home included among the 2026 Honourable Mentions was a wonderful surprise.
Grey Finds a Home is a narrative nonfiction picture book about a grey-headed flying fox named Grey. Grey lives a nomadic life, but when food becomes scarce, she must search for somewhere new to live.
A huge thank you to the PBParty team and judging panel for taking the time to read and consider all the entries, and for creating an opportunity for aspiring children's book creators to put their work out into the world. Congratulations to all of the other Honourable Mention recipients and finalists!
And, of course, thank you to the people who have encouraged me while Grey Finds a Home has been taking shape. Every bit of feedback, encouragement and enthusiasm helps keep a story moving forward.
For now, Grey is still looking for her home in the publishing world, but this little piece of recognition feels like an encouraging step along the way.
